Lower School General Education Teachers

We are seeking highly qualified, passionate, and collaborative teachers. Candidates will be role models who can help foster our students’ social, emotional, and academic growth, implement a variety of instructional strategies, and who have familiarity with the latest educational models to enhance student learning for the 21st century. Educators who have experience with Universal Design for Learning, the Science of Reading, Design Thinking, and comfort and flexibility with teaching students with disabilities and English language learners in inclusive settings are highly encouraged to apply.
This position is set to begin in August 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year.
The ideal candidate has:
- An interest in teaching in a collaborative team teaching model
- Degree in Elementary Education/Students with Disabilities K-2 or 1-6
- A deep understanding of effective instruction and content
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An understanding of child development and how social emotional factors impact learning
- An ability to build relationships with students that foster a positive classroom environment where students feel safe to make mistakes and take academic risks
- A belief that all children can learn at high levels with the appropriate supports
- An understanding that parents are our partners in supporting the learning of each child
- Experience with or willingness to be trained in using Responsive Classroom techniques and strategies
Schechter Bergen Teacher Responsibilities:
- Teach Literacy, Mathematics, & Social Studies, full time in a collaborative team teaching model
- Engage in a cycle of assessment to instruction by planning for formative assessments that provide students with multiple options for demonstrating their learning
- Maintain accurate and consistent records of evidence of students learning
- Communicate regularly with parents through conferences, emails, and phone calls to discuss students' individual learning progress, sharing successes and working in partnership to enhance student development
- Participate in professional learning and take initiative in their own growth as an educator
- Collaborate with learning specialists to create plans of support for identified students
- Engage with school-based coaches and fellow educators in team meetings to continuously learn and grow as an educator
Salary range $55,000-$75,000

Early Childhood Kindergarten Teacher

We inspire our students to be engaged, independent learners who embrace Jewish values and practices and strive with confidence and compassion to better the world.
We are seeking an Early Childhood Kindergarten Teacher to work in a collaborative, dual curriculum, Reggio Emilia inspired Kindergarten classroom. The Kindergarten grade functions as a community. We are looking for a teacher who enjoys working with a team of other Early Childhood experts and wants to bring their expertise and experiences to share with their colleagues.
This position is set to begin in August 2026 for the 2026–2027 school year.
A Schechter Bergen Kindergarten teacher is:
- An energetic, warm, creative, and skillful individual who is happy to work in a collaborative teaching environment with co-lead teachers
- The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of childhood development
- Background and ability to teach both Judaic and General studies
- Committed to child-led experiential learning
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with co-teachers to develop and implement emergent curricula
- Communicating with parents and colleagues
- Participating in professional development
- Conducting Parent-Teacher conferences
- Creating a classroom environment that embodies our school's values
Requirements include:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in early childhood education or early childhood special education, basic Hebrew language skills, previous classroom experience, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Salary Range $55,00-75000
