Facilities & Campus Operations Manager

Position Summary

The Facilities & Campus Operations Manager is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, safety, and functional readiness of the school’s buildings and grounds. This role ensures that all facilities support the academic, co-curricular, and community life of the school through proactive maintenance, organized systems, strong supervision of facilities staff, and coordinated space usage and event setups.

This is a hands-on management role focused on execution, organization, and accountability.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Facilities Oversight & Preventive Maintenance

  • Conduct routine campus walkthroughs to identify maintenance needs
  • Manage and prioritize work orders
  • Implement and maintain a preventive maintenance schedule
  • Oversee HVAC, plumbing, lighting, electrical systems, and general building upkeep
  • Coordinate snow removal, landscaping, and seasonal campus needs
  • Ensure campus cleanliness and operational readiness daily

2. Supervision of Maintenance & Custodial Staff

  • Supervise maintenance and custodial personnel
  • Establish daily and weekly task expectations
  • Monitor performance and ensure accountability
  • Coordinate staff scheduling to meet school and event needs
  • Promote a culture of professionalism and responsiveness

3. Space Usage, Scheduling & Event Setups

  • Oversee daily readiness of classrooms and shared spaces
  • Coordinate room usage in collaboration with administration
  • Manage event setup and breakdown for assemblies, parent programs, performances, athletic events, meetings, and community rentals
  • Develop standardized setup diagrams for recurring events
  • Implement clear space request procedures and timelines
  • Ensure spaces are promptly reset and prepared for instructional use

4. Vendor & Contractor Coordination

  • Serve as point person for facilities-related vendors and service providers
  • Obtain and review estimates for repairs and services
  • Monitor service contracts and vendor performance
  • Coordinate minor repair projects
  • Track facilities expenses and report to the COO

5. Safety & Compliance

  • Support fire, safety, and health inspections
  • Maintain documentation related to building compliance
  • Assist with emergency preparedness procedures
  • Address urgent facilities issues promptly and effectively

Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of experience in facilities management, building operations, or maintenance supervision
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Working knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a school environment
  • Clear communication and strong customer-service orientation
  • Must have a hands-on approach
  • Availability to respond to facilities needs during evening, weekends and emergencies

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Salary Range: $75,000–$85,000, commensurate with experience
Status: Full-Time, 12-Month Position beginning June 2026

K-4th Grade General Studies Assistant Teacher

We are seeking a passionate Lower School Assistant Teacher to work in a collaborative, warm, academic environment. Candidates should be energetic, creative and able to foster our students’ personal and academic growth. The assistant teacher will be responsible for assisting the teacher and students in all areas of the curriculum. 

Salary $35,000

K-4th Grade Judaic Assistant Teacher

We are seeking a passionate Lower School Judaic Studies Assistant Teacher to work in a collaborative, warm, academic environment. Candidates should be energetic, creative and able to foster our students’ personal and academic growth. The assistant teacher will be responsible for assisting the teacher and students in all areas of the curriculum.

Candidate must possess fluent skills in speaking, writing, and reading in Hebrew.

Salary $35,000

Learning Specialist (Special Education) Grades 5-8 Leave Replacement (Sept 2026 - Dec 2026)

We inspire our students to be engaged, independent learners who embrace Jewish values and practices and strive with confidence and compassion to better the world.

We are seeking a highly collaborative, experienced, and skilled Learning Specialist (special education teacher) to support students in grades 5-8. The Learning Specialist will create and implement innovative instructional experiences for students who have been identified as benefitting from academic support. Candidate will be a role model who can help foster our students’ personal and academic growth, implement a variety of instructional strategies, and who has familiarity with the latest educational models to enhance student learning for the 21st century. We are specifically seeking a teacher with an expertise in multi-sensory approaches to teaching reading and/or mathematics.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a Master’s level or high degree in Special Education, Math Education, Childhood or Adolescent Education, and or Literacy
  • Has at least 3 years of experience as a classroom teacher, learning specialist/interventionist, and or special education teacher
  • A deep understanding of effective literacy and mathematics instruction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An understanding of child development and how social emotional factors impact learning
  • A belief that all children have ability to learn at high levels
  • Preferred but not required: Hebrew/Judaic skills and/or specialization in Mathematics

The Learning Specialist will:

  • Provide individualized and small group instruction in order for all students to have access to the grade level curriculum
  • Serve as co-teacher in a variety of classes in grades 5-8 as determined necessary (changes year to year based on student need)
  • Partner with classroom teachers to create plans of support for identified students
  • Challenge students to become active independent learners and encourage each child's curiosity and creativity.
  • Foster respect for others, a commitment to values, and tikkun olam (repairing the world)
  • Maintain accurate and consistent records of evidence of students learning
  • Communicate regularly with parents through conferences, email, and phone calls to discuss students' progress, sharing successes and working in partnership to enhance student development.
  • Engage with the Director of Instruction and Learning and the Student Learning Team to continuously learn and grow as an educator

Pay Range $180-$220 per day commensurate with experience

Lower School General Education Teachers

We are seeking highly qualified, passionate, and collaborative teachers. Candidates will be role models who can help foster our students’ social, emotional, and academic growth, implement a variety of instructional strategies, and who have familiarity with the latest educational models to enhance student learning for the 21st century. Educators who have experience with Universal Design for Learning, the Science of Reading, Design Thinking, and comfort and flexibility with teaching students with disabilities and English language learners in inclusive settings are highly encouraged to apply.

This position is set to begin in August 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year.

The ideal candidate has:

  • An interest in teaching in a collaborative team teaching model
  • Degree in Elementary Education/Students with Disabilities K-2 or 1-6
  • A deep understanding of effective instruction and content
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An understanding of child development and how social emotional factors impact learning
  • An ability to build relationships with students that foster a positive classroom environment where students feel safe to make mistakes and take academic risks
  • A belief that all children can learn at high levels with the appropriate supports
  • An understanding that parents are our partners in supporting the learning of each child
  • Experience with or willingness to be trained in using Responsive Classroom techniques and strategies

Schechter Bergen Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Teach Literacy, Mathematics, & Social Studies, full time in a collaborative team teaching model
  • Engage in a cycle of assessment to instruction by planning for formative assessments that provide students with multiple options for demonstrating their learning
  • Maintain accurate and consistent records of evidence of students learning
  • Communicate regularly with parents through conferences, emails, and phone calls to discuss students' individual learning progress, sharing successes and working in partnership to enhance student development
  • Participate in professional learning and take initiative in their own growth as an educator
  • Collaborate with learning specialists to create plans of support for identified students
  • Engage with school-based coaches and fellow educators in team meetings to continuously learn and grow as an educator

Salary range $55,000-$75,000
